Healthy Snacking with CLIF & Taste of Nature - Review & Giveaway

With a two year old and two month old, leaving the house is a mammoth task. More often than not, I'll leave without breakfast and end up buying a chocolate bar while we're out to tide me over. Not healthy in the slightest.

When I was given the opportunity to try out some CLIF & Taste of Nature snack bars, I jumped at the chance. I'm not usually a fan of these types of bars, maybe it's the word "healthy" that puts me off but I was keen to give them a go.

First, the CLIF range. CLIF are America's favourite energy bars and their equation is that you must put good food in to get good performance out. The range is made from organic rolled oats and dates and they are a great source of protein and fibre. They contain 11 vitamins including B6 and B12 which contribute to the normal release of energy for use in the body. As they are rich in carbohydrates, they give your muscles the fuel they need for whatever activity you're engaging in.

The CLIF bars are available in six different flavours; Chocolate Chip, Crunchy Peanut Butter, Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, Blueberry Crisp, Chocolate Almond Fudge and White Chocolate Macadamia Nut and I was lucky enough to be able to give 4 flavours from the range a try.

Honestly, they were a lot nicer than I thought they'd be. I usually find that healthy bars are lacking taste but these are really flavoursome yet not overpowering. You can obviously taste the oats (which I don't normally like) but the flavours are delicious. Crunchy Peanut Buter was definitely my favourite! They're bigger than I had expected too. They're perfect for popping in the changing bag for when I'm out and about.

The CLIF bars retail at £1.60 each and are available from Holland & Barratt, Boots, Tesco and all good independent health food retailers. You can find out more about CLIF at the website, Facebook and Twitter

I was also given the opportunity to try some of the Taste of Nature range. These bars are 100% organic. They're packed with fruit, nuts and seeds and the team work directly with farmers from all around the world to source the best ingredients. The Taste of Nature bars are free from GM, free from gluten, are certified vegan and certified koshers.

They are available in flavours; Brazilian Nut Fiesta, Californian Almond Valley, Himalayan Goji Summit, Niagra Apple Country, Nova Scotia Blueberry Fields, Persian Pomegranate Garden, Polynesian Coconut Breeze, Argentina Peanut Plains and Quebec Cranberry Carnival.

The Himalayan Goji Summit & Nova Scotia Blueberry Fields were a bit too healthy-tasting for me. I did however LOVE the Coconut Breeze and Peanut flavours. Chris really enjoyed these ones though and has said that he may switch to these instead of his usual unhealthy snacks!

The Taste of Nature bars retail at £1.39 each and can be found at all good food health stores. You can find out more about Taste of Nature at the website, Facebook & Twitter.

  20. Any of them but the Choc Chip one will probably be first to go! Being vegan, I am always on the lookout for products like this but they are usually too expensive.
